The Bob Dolle Hall of Fame Variety Band is an outstanding, energetic group of professional entertainers who play a variety of music for audiences throughout the Rio Grande Valley including western swing, classic country, and some 50s/60s rock and roll. Band members bring extensive careers to the stage, having played countless dances and shows over the years as well as a wealth of experience opening shows for major acts.
Musicians in this unique 5-piece band are Hall of Fame members of the Western Swing Music Society of the Southwest (WSMSS). The band's association with the WSMSS has provided the opportunity to entertain audiences and dancers at venues in Wichita Falls, TX; Amarillo, TX; Turkey, TX; Wagoner, OK; and Cape Girardeau, MO. Band leader Bob Dolle is also a Hall of Fame member in other western swing organizations located in Sacramento, CA; San Marcus, TX; Seattle, WA; and Lawton, OK.
People attending dances and shows enjoy the keyboard mastery of band leader, Bob Dolle, who also plays fiddle; outstanding bass and vocals by Fred King; inspiring vocals and rhythm guitar by Joe Walenta; smooth pedal steel guitar and vocals by Lefty Schrage; and energetic percussion by Odie James on drums. In addition to playing dances in the RGV January through March, the band also plays several shows including the annual, extremely popular Bob Wills Tribute Show as well as the Bob Dolle Extravaganza.
