What do Winter Texans do on South Padre Island?
They have FUN!
Bordered by the Gulf of Mexico and the Laguna Madre Bay, SPI is the home of beautiful beaches, warm gulf waters,
fishing, boating, bird watching, shopping, and a diversity of year-round activities.
South Padre Island offers a wide variety of activities for the Winter visitor. Miles of beaches provide the opportunity to swim,
fish or just relax and enjoy the mild tropical climate of Winter on the island. For the nature lover, there are
bird sanctuaries ,
sea turtles and lots of dolphins.
There are many fishing charters that offer both deep sea and bay fishing. For the more adventurous visitors,
there is horseback riding, atv and jet ski rentals, speed boat cruising and parasailing.
You are sure to work up an appetite from all of the fun you are having, and you will find that there is no shortage of great places to eat.
One of the my favorites is
World Famous PadreRitaGrill. You can enjoy great food
and "Texas Music Island Style" performed live by
J. Micheal Laferty
one of the many, very talented South Padre Island musicians.
When your day of fun draws to a close and it's time to get some rest, there is no need to look far for lodging.
The Island has thousands of hotel rooms and condos as well as lots of RV sites. Many hotels offer special Winter Rates.
If you plan to stay for a while, a good option is to rent one of the many beachfront condominiums on SPI.
